Why check us out?
- We'd love to have a chance to convince you to check us out. Here's our shot at it.
- No contract. No obligation. No hassles.
- If you've read this far, you probably have some inner curiosity about whether Crossroads has something to offer you. I hope we do. But if you're interested enough to have dug this deep into our site, isn't the next logical step to spend one hour visiting us? You aren't obligated to come back. We won't hassle you. (Okay, we might send you a welcome letter and stuff like that, but that's only if you choose to give us your address. And even if you do, all you ever have to do is ask us to stop mailing you stuff and we will.)
- The best things in life often come in unexpected places
- It would only be natural for you to have doubts about whether Crossroads (or maybe even any church) is right for you. But life is often about finding wonderful things where you least expect them to be. The fabulous meal at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. The vacation getaway spot that the travel magazines have missed. In this day and age, churches have fallen off the map. Be different. Check us out.
- There's no substitute for experience
- Most every town has several different churches. That's because we're all different. I'm not saying that we're definitely right for you. But I don't think you can know one way or the other without spending just one hour with us. Churches are not only different from what they were in your childhood, they're very different from each other now.
- What's it going to be like if I do show up?
- We are using the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Englewood as our meeting place; it feels warmer and less formal than a sanctuary with pews. You can grab a cup of coffee or tea before heading to a seat. Once the service begins, it lasts no more than an hour. We start at 7:00 p.m., but we encourage you to arrive a few minutes early and relax before we begin. We have a wonderful band that will put you in the mood to listen to a thoughtful message.
- Are you just going to tell me what a bad person I am?
- No! And your life is yours to live. We won't tell you how to live it. You have free will. But all of us - and I mean all of us - occasionally use our free will to make choices which don't do us any good. We believe that Jesus not only offers us a way to live our lives with greater meaning and purpose, but that God also offers us forgiveness and acceptance. Christianity is not about guilt; it's about leaving the mistakes of our past behind us and moving ahead toward a hopeful future.
- The money issue. (And whether we're only after yours.)
- Yes, we collect an offering (as most all churches do), but feel free to decline. We mean it. It's not a big thing with us. People who get to know us and want to support our ministry choose to give. You'll have given plenty just by taking the time to be there.
- You still haven't convinced me. What now?
- Not sure. You can click here to send me e-mail, and ask me questions. I'd be interested in knowing what got you checking us out this far, as well as why you're still not sure you'd take the leap and show up on Sunday. Maybe if you send me an e-mail with your specific concerns, I can help.
